Video Blog - My Painting Studio

Here's a quick video segment of my painting studio. The video depicts a bunch of paintings I created during a two and a half evening painting marathon. I was pretty tired cranking out these pieces so when I went to video tape the "aftermath" I didn't bother cleaning up first.

How to Draw a Pirate

On Friday I decided to leave work early, opting to go home and do some drawing. While I was at it, I figured I'd videotape the process. This is one of a handful of drawing segments I'll be posting.

Hot Air Balloon Recovery

This hot air balloon drifted over the tops of the trees in my yard. Thinking it may be landing I followed it a few miles until it landed in a swamp behind a golf course. (The Angel's Crossing Golf Course in Vicksburg, Michigan).

American Express 15 second Film Submission

Here's my submission to American Express 15 second film competition. It was fun to try and edit content within a 15 second time slot.

Video Blog - Ft. Custer Mountain Biking

Here's a portion of a video segment I shot/edited depicting Ft. Custer's (Battle Creek, MI) mountain bike course. We transported 60-70lbs of video equipment up and down bike trails using one of those child bike trailers. The bike trailer barely fit the majority of Ft. Custer's trails.

(I believe this was shot during the Spring of 2003.)

Video Blog - Grackle Migration

This probably isn't the best use of a videoblog to show wide shots of birds (tiny pixels) flying around. I thought I'd try it anyway.

I shot these clips from my kayak in the fall of 2003 on the Portage River in Vicksburg, MI. That evening there were numerous batches of hundreds upon hundreds of grackles all flying in strange formations. It was a unique experience.

Video Blog - Parkville Rapids

Here's some shots from what I call the Parkville Rapids. It doesn't look real menacing but everytime I've gone down "the rapids" I hit the same rock... and it never ceases to freak me out.

Video Blog - More Public Art Placed

Finally, the weather was decent enough (last night) to place the 11 or so abstract cardboard paintings I recently completed. This time around I decided to videotape the placement of a couple paintings.

This morning I decided to drive down Main Street (in Vicksburg, MI) to see if any paintings were left. Not a single one. The benches were picked clean. So hopefully there's 11 or so happy people out there.

Video Blog - Favorite Vicksburg Moment

Since the weather is turning a bit chilly I decided to dig out this clip from my video archives. Sort of a reminder as to what's ahead.

I stumbled upon this scene a couple years ago. I have to say this is one of my favorite Vicksburg moments. From what I gathered these two kids almost made it around the entire ice covered lake. The funniest part to me was their friend constantly yelling at them from shore telling them how stupid they were.

***You may need to nudge the play "bar" to get the clip started****

Video Blog - Hippie Yard Sale

This yard sale was great. They had an old gypsy wagon and lots of strange movie type promotional props for sale. The sad part was everything looked like it was in dire need of repair.

I believe this sale was on Blue Star highway (if there is such a highway) going north from Kalamazoo to South Haven. I shot this quite awhile ago so I'm not sure the place even exists anymore.

Video Blog - Amish Boat Trailer

As I mentioned in a previous post I'm in search of the elusive $30,000 bass boat being towed by an Amish Buggy. This isn't the $30,000 bass boat but, I'm getting closer to acheiving the goal of getting a photo.

Video Blog - Ice Carver

Since the weather is cooling off a bit I decided to post this today. It's a short clip from a documentary I shot and edited involving an ice sculptor. It was shot it during the Dowagiac Ice Time Festival (here in Michigan). See if you can guess what he's carving. (The answer will flash on the screen very briefly at the end of the clip. It's a bit hard to read so you may have to skip ahead to that frame to read it.)

Video Blog - River Read Experiment (Centreville Covered Bridge)

The last of the River Read books have been placed under this covered bridge in Centreville, MI. For more information on my River Reading Experiment read the 5/24/05 and 6/1/05 posts).

I didn't get any photos of the book placements. Instead I decided to post some video footage depicting what it's like to drive across the bridge.
