FRESH KIDNEYS
A friend of mine is heading to China to teach English. As a going away gift I designed this shirt for him. It reads "FRESH KIDNEYS" . Since he can't read Chinese I'm going to tell him it reads "live long and prosper"... I know he'll appreciate the shirt... so will the black market kidney harvesters.

2nd Annual Cornstock T-shirt Design
Here's my t-shirt design for the 2nd Annual Cornstock Music and Arts Festival. This year I decided on a loose, folksy style of illustration.
Anyway, for those of you in and around Kalamazoo this one day event is on Saturday, June 17 from 10am - 10pm. It's being held at Scotts Mill Park in Scotts, MI. I think it's $5 a car load.

YUCK
Went out to eat this evening and ordered the wrong thing. I originally ordered a fajita WITHOUT onions. I should have known something was wrong when the waitress returned saying the mix they use has onions already included. The submissive me reluctantly said that was ok. But the passive agressive me had something more to say.
The waitress and cook laughed so all was well.

Apparel Just for Writers!
Here are a few t-shirts I designed and illustrated to be showcased on my 101 Excuses Not to Write Blog. More of my writer designs can be seen RIGHT HERE!
***side note****
My "Writers have frequent vowel movement" t-shirt just barely passed the "Mom test". I asked her on a couple occasions what she thought. She couldn't stop laughing long enough to tell me I shouldn't do it.

Tim Pewe - Art Trade
Here's a recent trade with Tim Pewe, a sculptor/craftsman from Michigan. Tim's cement sculptures, inlaid marble work and carvings are amazing. Equally impressive is this rustic marionette with felt joints. (I absolutely love this thing).
Be sure to check out Tim Pewe's Web Site

Jelene Art Trade
Recently I've been getting into trading art with other artists. Here's a recent trade with Jelene Morris. I've always enjoyed Jelene's art. So this was really cool to get a "Bag of Fun" from her. Even more than her art, I'm really impressed by her business sense. She has a real flair for creative self-promotion. She continually inspires me with her new ideas.

Guerilla Art - Three Rivers, Michigan
Guerilla art drops during this evening's excursion to Three Rivers, Michigan. I've been wanting to leave art in Three Rivers for quite some time.... tonight seemed like the right time. These are four of ten I placed around Main Street.

$27.50 do I hear $27.50
I recently read a glowing review about a graphic novel (comic book). It sounded intriguing enough that I made a trip to the comic book store. Keep in mind, I never go to comic book stores unless I'm looking for used music CDs. As a result I headed straight to the front counter and asked the 40 year old clerk where I could find this particular book. He led me straight to two shrink wrapped copies of the book. I said great! That's what I was looking for. Then I asked him to remove it from the shrink wrap so I could see if I wanted it. He said: NO. NO? I asked. He said it would decrease it's value. Then he went on to say he'd check the back for other titles by this artist. So there I stood staring at a book I was interested in buying while the clerk looked for another book I had no interest in. As I waited I noticed the price, $27.50. Then I began to wonder how much the book was out of it's wrapper. Finally, the clerk came back saying he couldn't find another title by that artist. I then asked AGAIN if he could please open the wrapper so I could see the book. He AGAIN said NO because it would decrease it's value. Then I asked. What if I buy the book, open it, read it, and decide to return it. How much will my refund be? He said "I'll open it"... Exactly!!!! Because it's $27.50 either way!!!! So he irritatingly breaks the shrinkwrapped seal with his fingernail. Then hovers 4 feet away as I flip each and every page slowly. Deciding to put him out of his misery and in an effort to look at the book in peace I offered to find him when I was done.
The obvious question to follow would be: Did you buy the book? Nope.

Guerilla Art Action in Paw Paw, Michigan
Took a quick little road trip to Paw Paw, Michigan. (I haven't been there in years). A perfect spot to place some guerilla art presented itself there. This is the result. (Painted with acrylics on cardboard).
